WARNING: The RCA Digital Voice Recorder is not fully compatible with MAC. I'm still trying to get this resolved but here is some important information to know if you are using a MAC.

Cannot open recorded files from my VR5230 on my computer
Why can't I open recorded files from the VR5230 on the computer?
Resolution Steps:

• You must use the provided Digital Voice Manager (DVM) software to open the files.
• To download the software, CLICK HERE Applicable Models for this software: VR5230

If your model number is not show here search for your model number in the search box above to find the correct software for your recorder.

NOTE: The Digital Voice Manager (DVM) software will not work on a MAC
If you intend to use a MAC set your Digital Voice Recorder to HQ Mode and you can play back the files using Quicktime, only HQ recordings are saved in .WAV format needed by Quicktime

Correction: This is important on a PC also.

I have just read three tutorials that said how complicated it is to convert a .VOC file. Anyone else having this problem??

I mentioned setting the voice recorders to HQ at orientation, but we were pretty distracted by playing with the new gadgets. Sorry you had so much trouble. Thanks for posting the work around.

I thought it might be something I missed. My MAC will not recognize the device at all so I have been going to my PC transferring files to the Flash drive then bringing them back to the MAC. Oh well, this is why we are doing an initial project, right? :)

You should be able to bring the files straight into Audacity if you have the recorder set to HQ; at least that's what the website said to do. We'll be using Audacity later in the workshop. It's a free download.

Anyone else having issues with the Flip being in MP4? My software is all too old for that.

Shelli, did you install the Flip software?

Yes, I believe I did. Software that came embedded in the device, no disk...

I'm here... I finally found my way after discovering the "groups" link on the ning provided this site....lol.

Well, I suppose this is partially the reason I am taking this class. Obviously, technology doesn't come natural to me, but I feel confident I can learn (or perhaps hopeful is a better description).

I look forward to this experience and learning from all of you wonderful people.

Great Article on the Labyrinth

How the Labyrinth Changed My Life I just read this article on CNN about a Washington Post writer who regularly walks a labyrinth to meditate and find solutions to issues in her life. She has a custom labyrinth in her backyard! See More
